The University of Nairobi has revoked the degree it awarded to Meru Senator Mithika Linturi after discovering that he presented fake papers for admission purposes . The university’s Senate sat and resolved to de-register the B.Com award on Thursday morning. Sources at the university told the Nation that the revocation followed an elaborate and in-depth investigation that UoN did jointly with the Commission for University Education (CUE). Mr Linturi was among 106 leaders the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) flagged as having integrity issues in a list it presented to IEBC in June. EACC wanted IEBC to block Mr Linturi from running for the Meru seat but he took the fight to the High Court and got temporary reprieve. earlier this week , the education ministry through C.S Fred Matiangi will come up with a comprehensive database that capture education history and background of all Kenyans, a move that has been welcomed by IEBC and employers at large.
